JoAnn was born and raised in Deer Park, WA. She graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Home Economic Education. After teaching for two years, she married her husband, Joe, and moved to Waitsburg, where they have resided for 30 years. Joe, and their son Justin, are area farmers, producing wheat, alfalfa hay and straw.

Joe and JoAnn have 2 children, which they home schooled. Both children are now married, and they love spending time with her 4 grandchildren! JoAnn began working part time as ministry assistant at Community Bible in 1998 and enjoys her work. She also has a side business of writing sewing books. She is looking forward to working with Come and Sew ministries, a part of Campus Crusade for Christ, and writing materials for them that will not only teach sewing skills, but will share the gospel and scriptural truths by combining analogies and lessons from scripture with the sewing experience.
