Community Bible Church in Dayton, Washington

Community Bible Church is located on the corner of 2nd and Clay in beautiful, historic Dayton, WA.

Community Bible church is considered one of the oldest Baptist congregations in the State of Washington, having been chartered as the First Baptist Church in July of 1872, with a membership of three. In the early 1870's, when Washington was still a Territory, meetings were originally held in a school. Services were later moved to an old Presbyterian meeting house. A small frame structure was begun in 1876 and dedicated in September of 1877.

The church found a permanent home when the present parcel was sold to the church for $1.00 by Loren day, the son of Dayton's founder. The current structure was erected on the present site in 1892 under the leadership of the minister, Dr. C.P. Bailey, and a building committee. Between 1975 and 1980, the auditorium was remodeled and a new baptistry added, and in 1991-92 the basement was remodeled. The original parsonage was built in 1878-81, and was replaced in 1947. The parsonage building is currently used for classroom space for the Blue Mountain Christian School.

In 1962, the church withdrew from the American Baptist Association and united with the Conservative Baptist Association. In 1992,the congregation voted to change the name to Community Bible Church.
